HRLax supports area Food Banks

For the second year in a row, all registering players, coaches and families may elect to donate to the area food banks.  For the 2009 season, HRLax supported the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and on opening day presented a check for $3,000.

For the 2010 season, HRLax will support the Foodbank of the Virginia Peninsula.  Once again, all players, coaches and families will be able to donate during their registration process.  The Chapter will continue to alternate support between the two foodbanks in order to fully support the efforts to provide for those in need.

Hampton Roads Chapter Donates to Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund 
 
Fueled by the success of its fund raising exhibition game in October between Virginia and Navy (fall 2008), the Hampton Roads Chapter was able to make a donation of $65,000 in December to the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, a charity that is dedicated to helping injured marines, sailors and their families. Among those making the check presentation were Mr. and Mrs. Mark Kelly, representing the Hampton Roads Chapter, and Ms. Maryellen Baldwin of the Hampton Roads Council of the Navy League. Receiving the check for the Semper Fi Fund were Mrs. Helen Toolan and Sgt. Major Lonnie Sanders, USMC (Ret).
