Welcome to the Grafton/York fall lacrosse team! Please check email for full message if receiving text alert.
This fall Grafton and York are combining our players and coaches to make a full team. There are multiple teams this fall that are combining to ensure their players can play. Teams that combine have been assigned PLL team names. Grafton/York has been assigned the Waterdogs name. If you go on HRLax.com and wanted to look up player rosters or team information, you would need to select Waterdogs to get that information.
Games are scheduled to start Thursday evening September 30th. Once an official schedule comes out it will be shared with everyone. Practices are on Saturdays, 9-11 am on the field behind Yorkminster Presbyterian Church on rt.17 in Grafton.
The goals for this team are to keep the players engaged with lacrosse during our traditional "off" season. continue to learn and to get new players some experience playing at the high school level before our regular season starts. We do have several new players to lacrosse and we will get them trained and coached to be prepared to contribute this fall and be successful in the spring. This is a great opportunity for experienced players to improve their skills, try some new moves and to mentor the younger players who have joined the team. All the players will get opportunites to contribute in the games so they need to be prepared to go when called upon.
It looks like we will be carrying 20-22 players on the team. We have players doing other sports, band and working, so we will be missing players from game to game. We will have plenty of coaches to work with the players. The coaches are headed up by Grafton's, Jim Johnson and York's, Tim Edwards. We will also have the assistant coaches and some graduated players from both teams helping out throughout the fall.
As we play this fall, please invite others who may be interested in playing lacrosse in the spring to come out and watch. Both teams will need to recruit quite a few players to have solid teams in the spring.
We will keep everyone updated throughout the fall season.
Let's GO DOGS!!
